About Rolling River First Nation
A proud member of the West Region Tribal Council, preserving our language, culture and lands for future generations
Ditibineya-ziibiing: Rolling River First Nation is a Saulteaux-Cree community and a signatory to Treaty 4, though located in Treaty 2 territory. Our reserves include Rolling River 67, 67A, 67B and 67C, along with a shared interest in Treaty Four Reserve Grounds 77. The community traces its roots to the leadership of Chief South Quill (Shawenequanape).
Population: Our community includes approximately 1,160 members, with about 370 living on reserve and strong ties among members living both on and off reserve.
Location: Based near Erickson, Manitoba, about 64 km north of Brandon, our lands lie along the southern boundary of Riding Mountain National Park, which is part of our ancestral territory.
Culture: We hold a traditional annual powwow and have been stewards of the land and water in Riding Mountain for generations, working with Parks Canada through the Coalition of First Nations with Interests in Riding Mountain National Park and operating the Rolling River Health Centre in Erickson.
